Rare paediatric immune-mediated neurological disorders: epidemiology, clinical characteristics, immunological profile and clinical outcome of autoimmune encephalitis and acquired peripheral neuropathies

Professor SHS Chan, Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine

Professor Sophelia Chan is currently the Clinical Associate Professor and Honorary Consultant of the Paediatric Neurology, Developmental Paediatrics and Neurohabilitation Team of the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, LSK Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong.  She received her undergraduate training in the University of Hong Kong, and had undergone the Paediatric Rehabilitation fellowship training in the New England Medical Centre, the Pediatric EMG training in the Boston Children’s Hospital and the Paediatric Neuromuscular fellowship training in the Dubowitz Neuromuscular Centre in the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. As a paediatric neurologist, her special interest and publications mostly focus on paediatric neuromuscular disorder, cerebral palsy, and immune mediated encephalitis. She is currently the team leader of the Neuromuscular Disorder Diagnostic and Management program of the Queen Mary Hospital, and also the principal investigators of two clinical trials for the common neuromuscular disorders.
