With a strong foundation in research, HKUMed has made tremendous contributions to the study and treatment of diseases. Approximately 1 in 8 of our professoriate members are among the world’s top 1% of scientists in their fields and over 390 papers published by our researchers are among the top 1% of papers cited worldwide (ISI's Essential Science Indicators). Complimented by state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technology, we are dedicated to providing world-class support and opportunities for our research postgraduates students.
We also offer a wide range of full-time and part-time taught postgraduate programmes, with dedicated efforts from our Departments in driving forward the ongoing developments of its taught curriculum. The taught programmes operate on a semester system, and candidates' academic progress is normally assessed in a combination of written examinations and project assignments throughout the year, as well as a dissertation which constitutes a significant portion of the work towards the degree.
