The topic of mass screening for AIS remains controversial among clinicians, healthcare professionals, and policymakers around the world. There remain concerns about potential radiographic hazards and anxiety in children unnecessarily referred for X-ray diagnosis or clinical follow-ups. As well as issues surrounding screening accuracy, mass screening for AIS can consume substantial resources.
To respond to the aforementioned needs, we propose the development of an artificial intelligence-assisted scoliosis screening and management system (AI-SSMS) that can be integrated into the current health services system for AIS.
