Croucher Foundation Studentships and Butterfield-Croucher Studentship
The awards offered by the Croucher Foundation Limited are intended to enable applicants who are permanent residents of Hong Kong to devote themselves to a period of full-time study or research in natural sciences, medicine or technology in approved academic institutions in Hong Kong.
The Butterfield Scholarships were established in 2003 to commemorate a former Chairman, the late Lord Butterfield. This is an award for the best Croucher Studentship applicant each year in the medical and biological sciences.

Dr KP Stephen Chang Gold Medal
Dr KP Stephen Chang Gold Medal is awarded annually to a HKUMed candidate who has written the best PhD thesis in that academic year. The major selection criteria are originality, quality of presentation, and merit of the research work.

Li Ka Shing Prizes
In 1990, Dr Li Ka Shing made a generous donation to the University. Part of the investment income earned on the donation has been used to establish the Li Ka Shing Prizes, which are awarded annually to up to six MPhil / PhD theses on the basis of academic excellence.
