The 3rd Congress on Safety and Quality in Spinal Surgery, themed ‘Zero Compromise in Spinal Surgery: Precision and Safety’, aimed to advance the development of a safety and quality system for spinal surgery diagnosis and treatment in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference focused on a safety philosophy and core clinical competencies in spinal surgery diagnosis and treatment. Hosted by the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital and academically supported by AO Spine, the conference featured distinguished authoritative experts in China’s spinal surgery field.
The experts delivered systematic lectures on the core theories and clinical practices pertaining to key domains, including infection prevention, strategies for managing nerve injuries, the advancement of new technologies and enhanced recovery after surgery, as well as legal norms, spinal deformities and anaesthesia. Four dedicated thematic sessions covered:
The format comprised 10-minute thematic lectures followed by one-hour roundtable discussions, providing a high-calibre academic exchange platform. It fostered in-depth interaction and deliberation between experts and participants, strengthen the sharing of clinical experience, and driving the continuous optimisation and advancement of surgical strategies.
