BBiomedSc and BSc (Bioinformatics) students and academic staff participated in a field trip to South Korea to explore developments in biomedical research and innovation. The programme included research presentations, seminars and laboratory tours at leading Korean universities, including the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Seoul National University and Yonsei University, as well as research institutes such as the Institute for Basic Science.
The visit also featured academic exchange sessions with local students and staff, discussing curricula, emerging trends in biomedicine, and pathways for postgraduate study and future careers. In addition, meetings with professionals from innovation hubs and biotechnology companies provided insights into start-up development and entrepreneurship.
Overall, the trip broadened the students' global perspectives and highlighted the connections between scientific research, industry applications and opportunities for collaboration.
