The symposium served as a vital hub of academic exchange, bringing together a distinguished faculty of 40 speakers who presented abstracts on the latest advancements in the field. The diverse programme featured cutting-edge research on topics such as infection-responsive antibacterial coatings, polymeric nanoplatforms for ototoxicity mitigation, and the functional assembly of skeletal matrix elements.
The event commenced with a formal opening ceremony and an opening speech by Professor Stephanie Ma Kwai-yee, Vice-President & Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), HKU. As a special highlight of the symposium, we were privileged to have Professor Robert Langer, David H. Koch Institute Professor at MIT, join us via Zoom to share his world-renowned expertise. We were also delighted to have Professor Malcolm Xing and Professor Guillermo Antonio Ameer attend in person, contributing their invaluable insights to our academic exchange.
The symposium was led by Professor Kelvin Yeung Wai-kwok, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, HKU, and Professor Zheng Yufeng, from Peking University. The three-day itinerary included plenary lectures, keynote presentations and specialised invited talks, providing a robust platform for networking and the exploration of new ideas in biocomposite science.
