This two-day off-campus event brought together leading scientists, researchers, postgraduate students and industry partners for an enriching Research Symposium and Retreat. The first day featured a full programme of keynote lectures delivered by members of our Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), covering neuroscience, developmental biology, genetics, sleep science, viral structures and cellular mechanisms. Complementing the keynote lectures were multiple flash talks, the ‘SBMS Outstanding RPg Award 2025’ competition, and an interactive poster session showcasing cutting-edge research by emerging scientists from our School. The event encouraged mingling and the sharing of ideas, and provided opportunities for junior researchers to learn from renowned scientists.
The second day transitioned to community building and strategic planning among SAB members, the Dean of Medicine and School Principal Investigators. There were updates on research developments across major thematic areas, followed by intensive breakout discussions on long-term development, collaboration opportunities, mentorship, talent cultivation and preparation for future RAE impact cases. The retreat concluded with feedback from SAB members and a closing lunch, reinforcing a shared vision for the School's next decade of growth and innovation.
