The University of Hong Kong (HKU) became a member of the World Health Organization's Global Clinical Trials Forum (GCTF) in November 2025, marking a significant advancement in the city's integration into the international research landscape. This membership is managed through HKU Clinical Trials Centre (HKU-CTC), which has a decades-long track record in generating high-quality clinical evidence and fostering medical innovation.

As HKU’s representative in this WHO-managed network, HKU-CTC actively collaborates with global health leaders to strengthen trial infrastructure, provide clinical research training and standardise implementation guidelines by participating in multiple WHO platforms. This allows HKU and HKU-CTC to go beyond local research and help shape the standards governing evidence-based medicine worldwide. By contributing to a more robust global clinical trial ecosystem, HKU-CTC is now positioned to translate HKU’s research excellence into global health action, addressing the world’s most pressing medical challenges.
