HKUMed Teaching and Learning Expo 2025: Harnessing AI to Revolutionise Health Sciences Education

Co-organised by the BIMHSE, EdTech and SIMHSE teams, the HKUMed T&L Expo served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration and inspiration, further strengthening connections among members of the China Consortium of Elite Teaching Hospitals. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions and explored opportunities for collaboration in medical and health sciences education.

The Expo opened with themed Morning Mindful Practice sessions, followed by three hands-on workshops with over 70 participants from Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. Led by HKUMed educators, the workshop topics included Digital Health and AI curriculum development, Interprofessional Education and Research Methods, and Peer Teaching and Student–teacher Partnership Initiatives. Participants also took part in a TechMezz Lab Tour to experience immersive learning technologies, including AR/VR and 3D anatomy platforms.

The conference day attracted more than 180 participants and featured keynote speakers who shared insights on global health challenges, digital transformation and the role of AI in medical education. Roundtable and plenary sessions highlighted innovative teaching models, while speakers from C10 institutions shared best practices. The Expo featured six themed booths hosted by BIMHSE, Edtech & SIMHSE, Ethos, the MBBS Enrichment Year Team, the School of Nursing and the School of Public Health. The booths provided interactive demonstrations and networking opportunities, reinforcing the importance of innovation and collaboration in advancing medical education.
