HKUMed welcomed Professor Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, Editor-in-Chief of the JAMA Network, for a visit that strengthened dialogue on clinical research and scholarly publishing. Professor Bibbins-Domingo met with academic leaders of the Faculty to learn about clinical research being conducted at HKUMed. She delivered a talk, titled ‘Scientific Publication and Advancing Public Health’, in which she shared insights into how manuscripts are evaluated and selected for publication in JAMA. She addressed the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic writing, sharing practical guidance on responsible use, key considerations for authors, and common pitfalls encountered when AI tools are applied without sufficient oversight. The visit offered timely guidance for researchers navigating the fast-evolving publication environment.
