25 February 2025

Over 200 medical alumni, guests and MBBS students gathered in Run Run Shaw Hall, Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, to celebrate the Year of the Snake on 25 February 2025. This year, new members joined the Executive Committee and the subcommittees of the HKUMAA, further strengthening members' solidarity. Dr Libby Lee (李夏茵), President of the HKUMAA, expressed her sincere gratitude to her team and members for their unwavering support, emphasising the importance of unity to boost the morale of the Association.

Professor Chak-sing Lau (劉澤星), Vice-President & Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health) and Dean of Medicine, invited over 20 MBBS students (Distinguished MedScholars) to participate in the dinner and engage with alumni. Angelina Cheng (鄭詠芝) (MBBS-DMS Year 3) and Vincent Huang (黃瀚錕) (MBBS-DMS Year 1) shared with guests the innovative use of EdTech in learning and their experience as near-peer tutors under the "Student in Medical and Health Sciences Education" (SIMHSE) initiative, aimed at enhancing student engagement in teaching and curriculum development activities at HKUMed.

The evening's atmosphere was enriched by captivating student sharing and performances, notably a wonderful a cappella performance by student band Medici Cantano and an impressive rhapsody performed by harmonicaist Brian Wong (黃卓賢) (MBBS Year 2) and pianist Wong Pak Kin (黃柏堅) (MBBS Year 2), which elevated the atmosphere to new heights, leaving guests in awe of the students' talent and making the event truly unforgettable.
