The HKU-Cambridge Joint Medical Symposium, one of the 100th-anniversary events, took place successfully on the afternoon of 11 November 2023 at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel.
With the theme ‘Embracing Medical Sciences into the next Centenary’, this collaborative event with the University of Cambridge brought together renowned speakers to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in Medical Sciences and Research. The symposium included the prestigious AJS McFadzean Distinguished Lecture titled ‘Precision Medicine for Dementia: Thinking Large and Thinking Small’ by Prof James Rowe from the University of Cambridge. Impressively, the symposium attracted over 240 participants.
Following the symposium, the Centenary Gala Dinner was held at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel in the evening. Mr Chan Kwok-ki(陳國基), Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The event featured a live performance of the Department’s Centenary Theme Song. Nearly 300 esteemed alumni, faculty members, donors and friends came together to celebrate the momentous occasion of the 100th anniversary.
