A series of professional courses were offered by the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, School of Clinical Medicine from October 2023 to April 2024:

Cadaveric Workshop on Ankle Arthroscopy and Lateral Ligament Repair 2024
The Cadaveric Workshop on Ankle Arthroscopy and Lateral Ligament Repair was held on 21 April 2024. During the half day course, 19 surgeons had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on latest ankle arthroscopy technology. The course was chaired by Dr Chan Chi-fat (陳志發) and Dr Tan Jun Horng (陳俊宏).

Cadaveric Course on Paralytic Reconstruction and Wound Coverage in Hand and Upper Limb
Twelved orthopaedic specialists participated in the Cadaveric Course on Paralytic Reconstruction and Wound Coverage in Hand and Upper Limb. 
Led by a team of experienced faculty members, the course provided instruction on paralytic reconstruction involves various techniques, including muscle transfers, tendon transfers, nerve transfers, flap coverage, etc. The ultimate goal was to improve the patient’s quality of life and functional capabilities.

5th HKU International Musculoskeletal Tumour Course
The 5th HKU International Musculoskeletal Tumour Course was held from 8 to 9 December, 2023. The course was co-directed by Dr Kenneth Ho Wai-yip (何偉業)and Profesor P Ruggieri (University of Padova, Italy). This two-day course provided participants a comprehensive review of various conditions within Orthopaedic Oncology and an introduction to the principles of management in Musculoskeletal Tumours. Lectures were given by renowned experts including Professor A Leithner, Professor D Letson, Professor Xiao Huiniu, Professor P Ruggieri, Dr John Shin, Professor J Wang and Professor PQ Wu, as well as speakers from Hong Kong. During the course, tumour cases were discussed in order to illustrate the principles and concepts of patient care presented in the lectures. Over 110 participants attended and overall comments from the participants were good to excellent. 

SRS Hands-On Course on Spinal Deformity Solutions
The SRS Spine Deformity Solutions: A Hands-On Course was held from 13-15 October 2023. This 17-hour programme provided comprehensive coverage of spine-related conditions and techniques through lectures, case presentations and hands-on workshops. Over 30 participants from different locations had the opportunity to learn from 19 renowned spinal deformity surgeons. The positive feedback received from participants highlights the success of the event
