The HKU-Pasteur Research Pole organised a seminar on 7 December 2023 by Dr Vincent Rouilly from the Centre for Immunology & Infection (C2i) and the Institut Pasteur to share the tools and analytical methods that have been developed for the Milieu Intérieur (MI) project from the Institut Pasteur Paris, and more recently, the Healthy Human Global Project - Hong-Kong from C2i in Hong Kong. Both projects were set to explore the determinants of the variability of the immune response in a healthy population, respectively in a French cohort and a Hong Kong cohort.

From the start of the MI project in 2012 to the latest development of the HHGP-HK, Dr Rouilly and the students discussed the challenges they encountered, as well as the lessons they have learnt along the way. This seminar informed the next wave of innovations in the fields of immunology and personal medicine.

On December 7, 2023, a Fireside Chat with Ms Erika Elvander, Health Attaché of the US Embassy in Beijing, was arranged by the School of Public Health for BASc in Global Health and Development [BASc(GHD)] students to gain insights into the field of global health and development.

Ms Elvander shared her career journey and highlighted the importance of international relations and research in addressing health issues. Students engaged in discussions about emerging global health topics in Asia and learned about the day-to-day responsibilities of a health attaché.
