The HKUMAA 25th Anniversary Family Sports and Fun Fiesta was a resounding success, held amidst a hot and exhilarating atmosphere on 29 September 2024.
With temperature reaching 32°C, approximately 250 alumni, family members, and friends gathered at the Stanley Ho Sports Centre to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of HKUMAA. The event was graced by esteemed guests including, President of HKUMAA; Professor Rosie Young, Founding President; Dr Kathleen So and Professor Matthew Tsui, Past Presidents; Dr Flora Tsang and Dr Victor Yeung, Vice-Presidents; Professor Gilberto Leung, President of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (HKAM); and Professor Patrick Chung, Assistant Dean (Alumni Engagement) of HKUMed.
The day's highlights included a friendly football match between HKUMAA team led by Professor Matthew Tsui and HKAM team led by Dr Fergus Wong, with HKUMAA emerging victorious with a 3-0 scoreline. Another exciting event was the 4x100m invitation relay, featuring 7 teams including HKWC Sports Association (champion), HKUMAA 130 Mentorship Programme (1st runner-up), HKAM (2nd runner-up), HKUMAA, HKUMed, HKU Public Health Alumni Society, and HKU Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (Full-time) Alumni Association.
In addition to the competitive sports events, attendees enjoyed a variety of family fun games and carnival booths. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for alumni, staff, and their families to engage in exercises, reconnect, and socialise, fostering a sense of camaraderie among all alumni and participants.
