What do we do?

Ruth, our counsellor.
Ruth Wong, PsyD
Member of Register of Clinical Psychologists accredited by Department of Health (HK)
Licensed Clinical Psychologist (California and New York, US)
Clinical Psychologist

Hello there, this is Ruth. I am a clinical psychologist registered in Hong Kong and licensed in the States. It is my belief that the topic of mental health is not just about treatment and intervention, but also prevention and self-growth. Especially when it is part of life that there are ups and downs, sometimes it might be easier to surf through the waves when we are to “invest” in developing our internal self. I believe that my role as a psychologist is to provide a non-judgmental space that could allow that internal self to feel listened to and cared for – a space that could eventually foster personal growth and self-actualisation.

I utilise an integrative theoretical orientation in psychotherapy with evidence-based and strength-based approaches. These primarily include cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic and mindfulness-based approaches.

Joseph, our counsellor.
Joseph Cheng, PhD
Student Wellness Counsellor

Hello this is Joseph. I am a life traveller and companion – I love listening to people’s life stories and taking a joint adventure with them to walk over different predicaments. I worked as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology before joining the team. I was also a volunteer counsellor in couple (married or unmarried)  counselling in an NGO.

Narrative practice is my primary counselling approach. You are all welcome to my counselling room to take a break from your difficulties and we can revisit your life stories together to share your tears and laughter, your frustration and anger, and to (re-)discover your hopes and dreams.

Vincci, our counsellor.
Vincci Lau, RSW
HKPCA Associate Fellow and Certified Counsellor
Student Wellness Counsellor

Hi there! I am Vincci and had worked in Hong Kong tertiary education as a Counsellor for 15 years. I am now here because I really want to listen to everything you have in your mind. You can always share all your worries, happiness, disappointment, joy, ups and downs or just a very small thing that lightens up your day with me! I understand that working in the medical industry is harder now than ever, which makes me even more eager to share your bad feelings and help you out. With me, you are never alone as long as you trust me and allow me to be your lighthouse in the case you are lost. Together we can always find a way out to your problems. So don’t hesitate anymore and make an appointment with me!

Arthur, our counsellor.
Arthur Li, PsyD
Registered Clinical Psychologist (HKADCP)
Registered Counselling Psychologist (HKPS)
Student Wellness Counsellor (Clinical Psychologist)

Hi everyone! My name is Arthur. I am a Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, Logotherapist, and an existentialist – I believe we as human being are ultimately free and responsible to live out the meaning in our life, and we always have the potential to discover meaning in any kind of situation. Having working in the field of mental health for years, I tend to understand mental health issues as another form of being. If you ever have doubts, concerns, or anything in your mind you would like to talk about, come take a seat and I will be there, and together we will face it.

I practise from a technical eclectic perspective, where I adopt the existential-humanistic and meaning-centered approach, and also integrates various techniques that I believe would best fit your needs.

Jo, our counsellor.
Jo Wu, NCC
Student Wellness Counsellor

Greetings! My name is Jo. I am a member of Hong Kong Professional Counsellor Association, a National Certified Counsellor in the States and a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. I believe each of us is unique in our needs, potentials and strengths. So each of us will have a unique way to flourish and be successful. If you are interested in better understanding yourself, so you could also better aware of your inner resources and choices that best fit you, feel free to let me know.

My counselling style is an integration of cognitive behavioural, existential and strength based approaches.
