Part 1 & 2: Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Standard Course (12 hours) & Communication and Engagement Skills Workshop (2 hours)

To successfully complete the Peer Supporter Programme, students are required to attend all four sessions of the MHFA Standard Course. Additionally, they must participate in a separate 2-hour workshop designed to strengthen their engagement and communication skills. Both the MHFA Standard Course and the workshop are delivered in a face-to-face format.

Communication and Engagement Skills Workshop (Cantonese):

Part 3: Wellness Service and Promotion Activities (8 hours)

Students would need to 1) assist in at least one of the wellness events hosted by the Student Wellness Team & 2) self-initiate wellness related service or promotional activities to co-create a supportive culture to support their peers in the HKUMed community.

Here are some examples of activities that could be counted to fulfill the hours' requirement:

  • Example of Student Wellness Team events:
    • Wellness-focused workshops and talks
    • Distribution of wellness gift packs

  • Example of wellness service:
    • Care for a friend via Whatsapp/ text messaging, email, phone call, etc.
    • Invite a classmate to lunch purposefully to provide support
    • Join your groupmate for a coffee and check in with them

  • Example of wellness promotional activities:
    • Invite a friend to join a mental health workshop offered by different organizations together (e.g., CEDARS, community NGO, other training centres, etc.)
    • Create an IG story/post to promote mental health awareness

  • And more…

Year 1-3 Nursing students:

With the support from the School of Nursing, our Nursing students joining activities under Student Wellness Team will be counted under 20 hours of local learning experience.

Requirement of local learning experience:

ONLINE APPLICATION

Interested students can apply online HERE. Quota is limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email and be required to submit a cash deposit of HK$400 to the Student Wellness Team as part of the commitment. The deposit will be fully refunded upon completion of the entire programme.
