Student Wellness
Resource for Staff

The Student Wellness Team believes that collaborative efforts with staff within the university system is essential in supporting students’ wellbeing at all levels. Therefore, the team provides regular support and training to staff who might be interested in understanding more and bettering themselves in handling wellbeing issues.

Staff Training

If you are interested in inviting us to host a training for your team under HKUMed, feel free to reach out to us via the Outreach Request Form

Common staff training topics include:

  • Early detection of mental health and psychological symptoms
  • Crisis handling
  • Referral and connection to resources
  • Communication and engagement skills
  • Mental health stigma

Crisis Support

Please do not hesitate to reach out to our team if you need a discussion to figure out ways to better support a student. Our duty counsellor will be available for a consultation during office hours. Staff members are also encouraged to escort a student to our office directly if you believe that a student might be in crisis and requires immediate support from our team. However, please ensure that the student voluntarily participates in our services before referring them to us.

If you are in need of support to handle student crisis when our office is closed, please utilize the after-hours hotline at 3910 2751.
