Centre for Immunology and Infection (C2i)

The LKS Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) and the Institut Pasteur are combining their considerable expertise to establish the Centre for Immunology & Infection (C2i), a major initiative that adopts innovative strategies to identify and contain emerging infectious diseases, and transform Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area into a global hub of knowledge and research in this field.

The C2i aims to characterise immune responses to infectious agents and their components in a healthy Asian population and develop new vaccine platforms for influenza, new strategies for mosquito-borne viruses and new treatments for lethal respiratory virus infections.

The Centre is led by Professor Malik Peiris (Managing Director) and Professor Roberto Bruzzone (Co-director).  A number of research programmes are developed under the centre to achieve the above objectives:

  1. Healthy Human Global Project (HHGP)
Programme Leader: Dr Darragh Duffy, Institut Pasteur
Co-Programme Leader: Dr James Di Santo, Institut Pasteur
  2. Development of Novel Vaccine Platforms for Influenza
Programme Leader: Professor Leo LM Poon
  3. Mosquito-borne Viruses: Epidemiology, pathogenesis and interventions
Programme Leader: Dr Tommy TY Lam
  4. Developing Novel Experimental Models of the Human Respiratory System for Understanding Pathogenesis, for Therapeutic Screening and Precision Medicine
Programme Leader: Dr Michael CW Chan
Join us to pave the way to success.

C2i is always actively looking for talented individuals to join our growing team. Please check back from time to time to see what we have available that would be the right fit for you.
