The Orientation Day marked a new chapter for all BBiomedSc freshmen, providing them with a comprehensive introduction to campus life and academic expectations at the SBMS. We were honoured to have our School Director, Professor Michael Häusser, deliver the welcome speech, followed by Professor Cora Lai Sau-wan, who introduced the revamped curriculum. Students can now choose from four specialised majors: Biomedical Research, Bioinformatics, Clinical Sciences and Health Technology. This modernised programme fosters interdisciplinary learning and prepares graduates to excel in diverse careers at the intersection of biology, technology and medicine.
Our students were also introduced to the comprehensive support system, which includes dedicated mentorship from academic advisers and senior peers, as well as counselling services provided by the HKUMed Student Wellness Team. Our School is committed to cultivating a supportive and nurturing environment that encourages personal growth, academic success and well-being, empowering our students to become future leaders in the field of biomedical sciences.
