This scheme was a flagship initiative by HKU designed to inspire secondary school students to explore careers in orthopaedics and health sciences. The programme aimed to nurture young talent by offering a realistic, hands-on glimpse into the medical profession—highlighting both technical skills and the compassion, resilience and excellence required of healthcare professionals. Fourteen students were selected. The programme featured lectures by Dr Graham Shea Ka-hon, Dr Marvin Chung Man-ting, Dr Felix Leung and Dr Chi-him Tong, as well as mentorship across specialties, such as spine, hand, joint, foot, sports, trauma and oncology.

The students engaged in a variety of sessions, such as the 'Journey to Becoming an Orthopod', the 'Saw Bone Workshop' and the 'Upper Limb Plaster & Boxing Glove Workshop'. They also attended patient-sharing sessions and hospital tours, gaining firsthand exposure to surgical procedures and clinical environments.

The programme received overwhelmingly positive feedback. The participants praised the authenticity of the experience, the compassion and dedication of the mentors, and the opportunity to witness real operations. Many described it as the most impactful programme they had ever joined, highlighting its role in shaping their understanding of medicine as a career built on empathy, resilience and excellence.
