This IBRA advanced course, held in Hong Kong, focused on advanced surgical techniques for upper limb trauma and reconstruction. Chaired by Professor Josephine Ip Wing-yuk, the programme targeted fellows and consultants in orthopaedics. Nineteen international participants practiced intramedullary fixation and derotation osteotomy for metacarpal fractures, DIP arthrodesis for hand osteoarthritis, and internal fixation and plate techniques for scaphoid injuries. Wrist-focused workshops included distal radius and ulna fixation, RSL fusion, ulna shortening osteotomy and partial wrist fusion. The elbow module featured hands-on training in fixation of coronoid, radial head, olecranon and distal humerus fractures. The workshop allowed attendees to apply advanced techniques in a simulated surgical setting, enhancing their confidence and precision in managing complex upper limb injuries.
