The Digital Health and Intelligent Medicine Laboratory (AIMED) at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of the University of Hong Kong hosted this five-day summer camp to provide secondary school students aspiring to pursue AI and healthcare research with immersive learning experiences.
The participants began with safety training and an overview of AIMED's research projects. They were then paired with mentors (Mr Lu Pengyu, Ms Wei Yuxin and Mr Zhao Long) to shadow AI researchers, explore tools and observe clinical data collection workflows, from cleaning to AI training. Hands-on sessions included seminars on wearable medical devices, app testing and feedback discussions. The camp concluded with student-led workshops and certificates awarded by organisers Dr Grace Zhang Teng, Dr Qi Weichen and Dr Meng Nan.
This initiative bridged AI innovation with healthcare, empowering young minds to envision future careers at this interdisciplinary frontier.
