School of Nursing
To help JUPAS applicants gain a better understanding of HKU School of Nursing programme, we organised three Student Taster Sessions. The sessions featured a programme overview, a mini-lecture and student sharing.
Professor Polly Li, Associate Programme Director of the Bachelor of Nursing (BNurs) and Bachelor of Nursing Advanced Leadership Track (BNurs-ALT), introduced the key elements of the curricula and gave a lecture on myocardial infarction (heart attack). At the Technology-Enriched Learning Mezzanine (Techmezz), Lecturer Dr Philip Hung Ming-wai led students using virtual reality (VR) tools and the latest technologies to learn how to read electrocardiogram graphs, combining this with lecture knowledge to diagnose heart disease. The students were enthusiastic and highly engaged throughout the event. During the last sharing session, HKU Nursing students shared their university life and answered questions from secondary school students.
The participants found that the activity provided an opportunity to experience HKU's unique teaching approach and immersive multimedia learning, as well as first-hand experience in studying at university.
