Every year on 12 May, we celebrate International Nurses Day to honour the contributions of nurses worldwide and commemorate the birth of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing.

This year marks the third consecutive year that the School has collaborated with the Hospital Authority's (HA) Hong Kong West Cluster to celebrate this special occasion. The event was officiated by Dr Theresa Li Tak-lai, Cluster Chief Executive of the Hong Kong West Cluster, HA, Dr Danny Tong Wah-kun, Chief Manager (Nursing) / Chief Nurse Executive of the HA, Professor Sylvia Fung Yuk-kuen, President of The Hong Kong Academy of Nursing & Midwifery, Professor Sophia Chan Siu-chee, Director of the HKU Primary Health Care Academy, Ms Jane Chan Lai-hung, Cluster General Manager (Nursing), Hong Kong West Cluster, HA, and Professor Chia-Chin Lin, Director of the HKU School of Nursing, who led the Light-up Ceremony to celebrate this meaningful day.

Dr Tong and Professor Fung also gave lectures on this year's theme 'Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies', providing valuable guidance and inspiration for the nursing community
