The Hong Kong Cancer Survivorship Symposium, “Embracing Life After Breast Cancer: Uniting Patients and Healthcare Providers”, was held on 8 June. The symposium was co-hosted by The University of Hong Kong Jockey Club Institute of Cancer Care (JCICC) and the Department of Oncology, Princess Margaret Hospital, Kowloon West Cluster. It provided a platform for healthcare professionals from different disciplines in the field of oncology to meet and brainstorm ways to develop cancer survivorship care services in the community.
There were 14 renowned speakers from Hong Kong and overseas in four different sessions: (1) Models of Care for Cancer Survivorship and Guidance from International Cancer Agencies, (2) Management of Treatment-Related Issues in Breast Cancer Survivors – Perspectives from Oncologists, (3) Improving the Quality of Life of Breast Cancer Survivors – Perspectives from Physiotherapists, and (4) a local discussion panel. The hybrid symposium attracted a diverse audience of about 90 medical doctors, nurses, allied health practitioners and students.
