About 80 MBBS students, mentees, alumni and mentors attended the third Sharing Forum of the HKUMAA 130 Mentorship Programme online on 22 October 2022, in which they learned about the training, the development and the skillsets on career preparation of their interested specialties.
With the theme ROAD to Serve, the Sharing Forum covered four specialties including Radiology, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology and Dermatology. Four eminent doctors shared their experience and tips on the training and requirements of their specialties in the first part of the event. They are Dr Poon Wai Lun, COS, Department of Radiology and Imaging, Queen Elizabeth Hospital; Dr Emily Yeung, Vice-President (General Affairs), College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong; Dr Chow Yu Fat, Honorary Consultant, Department of Anaesthesiology, HKSH Medical Group, and Dr Kingsley Chan, Honorary Consultant, Hospital Authority.
In the second part of the Forum, participants were able to join an in-depth discussion with the speakers in the breakout room of their selected specialties. In Radiology breakout room, the speakers are Dr Poon Wai Lun; Dr Kevin Lau, Co-chairperson of the 130 Mentorship Programme, and Dr Lawrence Tee, private practitioner. In Ophthalmology, the speakers are Dr Emily Yeung; Dr Shaheeda Mohamed, Consultant, Hong Kong Eye Hospital, and Dr Aziz Kam Ka Wai, Associate Consultant, Hospital Authority. In Anaesthesiology, the speakers are Dr Chow Yu Fat; Dr Libby Lee, Co-chairperson of the 130 Mentorship Programme; Dr Gordon Wong, Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology, School of Clinical Medicine, HKUMed, and Dr Yu Pak Chung, private practitioner. In Dermatology, the speakers are Dr Kingsley Chan, Dr Ip Wing Kin and Dr Alex Wong, private practitioners.
