As Assistant Dean in Academic Development, my main roles are staff recruitment and staff development.
What are your primary responsibilities in this role?
For staff recruitment, our goal is to recruit the best global talent so HKUMed can continue to produce world-class research, and importantly, provide the best teachers for our students across all disciplines.
For staff development, we want to cultivate a very positive and supportive environment for our staff to engage in their research and to enable them to be good teachers.

My vision is for HKUMed to be home to the best healthcare researchers and the best educators for the next generation of clinicians and scientists.

What are your primary responsibilities in this role?
To develop and design programmes, both those that are Faculty-wide or more targeted, to support staff to improve or maintain their well-being.
And to align our work with the Faculty's "People First" initiative as staff well-being is core to this goal.
What's your vision in this new position?
This is a new focus for the Sub-Deanery, so we will consider how to develop useful programmes for staff while considering how these can be integrated into their schedules for them to learn how to improve their well-being.
Healthcare is a competitive field, so it's important for colleagues to be aware of their health and to support one another.
