HKUMAA 2024 Spring Dinner (1 March 2024)

On 1 March 2024, almost 200 alumni and guests gathered at Chariot Club to celebrate the Year of the Dragon, filling the Spring Dinner with immense joy and excitement. This year holds special significance as it marks the 25th anniversary of HKUMAA. The Executive Committee and Sub-committee members came together to cut a birthday cake. Professor Rosie Young, the founder of HKUMAA in 1999, expressed her hope at the Dinner that the Association would continue to foster unity and solidarity among alumni of different generations. HKUMAA 130 Mentorship Programme 4th Term (2023-2025) Inauguration Ceremony

HKUMAA Inauguration Ceremony for the 4th cohort of the 130 Mentorship Programme was held on 14 January 2024. The event saw the participation of 100 mentors and mentees. Professor Rosie Young, Dr Kathleen So, Professor Gilberto Leung and Professor Gordon Wong also supported the event. [more]

HKUMAA x Trailsweeper – Hike Up, Pick Up @ Mount Davis Heritage Trail

Almost 20 members of HKU Medical Alumni Association (HKUMAA) and their family members and friends gathered together to kickstart 2024 by participating in a meaningful hiking trail clean-up activity on Sunday, 7 January. The event was co-organised by HKUMAA and Trailsweeper, an organisation that promotes environmental conservation through cleaning up hiking trails. [more]

HKUMAA 23rd Annual General Meeting & Talk by Professor Lo Chung Mau

Our renowned alumnus Professor Lo Chung Mau, Secretary for Health, delivered an inspiring talk after the 23rd Annual General Meeting of HKUMAA on 2 August 2023. Over 60 alumni, members of the Faculty and friends participated in the talk in person and via Zoom. Professor Lo shared his captivating journey through his family and professional life. His anecdotes resonated deeply with the audience, evoking laughter and reflection. [more]

HKUMAA Band Show 2023

The HKUMAA Band Show 2023 that took place at Grappas’ Cellar on 17 June was a blast, drawing approximately 90 medical alumni, students and friends together for an enjoyable Saturday afternoon filled with great music and nice food!

The band show featured not only the soulful performance by Dr Kenneth Liu, and the amazing voice by Dr David Fang who sang with Dr Thomas Tsang’s wonderful piano accompaniment, but also band performances including the alumni acapella group Medipella, the student band Medici Band, who rocked the stage with their energetic performance, and last but not least the alumni band Synapse, who created memorable experience that left the audience wanting more. 130 Mentorship Programme 4th Sharing Forum

HKUMAA organised the 4th Sharing Forum of the 130 Mentorship Programme on 20 May 2023. The event was a great success, bringing together practicing physicians, HR professional, mentors and mentees, MBBS students, and young medical alumni. Over 60 participants have joined the session.

HKUMAA 2023 Spring Dinner

The HKUMAA Spring Dinner was back on 17 February 2023! It was the first face-to-face alumni event in the new Year of the Rabbit. The event brought together over 200 alumni and friends and provided the perfect backdrop for different generations of members of the HKU medical family and friends to reconnect and make new friends. In the welcoming remarks, Dr Matthew Tsui, President of HKUMAA, expressed his warm welcome and gratitude to all guests and highlighted the association’s activities in the past year. Professor Chak-sing Lau, Dean of HKUMed, shared the updates of the Faculty’s development. Guests enjoyed the two live music performances during the dinner by Medipella and Dr Annabel Choy. The night also featured the lucky draw with many exciting prizes. Everyone enjoyed the evening and leaving with full bellies and big smiles.  [more]

HKUMAA Reunion Football Match 2023

A football match was organised on 8 January 2023 at Stanley Ho Sports Centre to provide a chance of reunion. More than 30 MBBS alumni and students joined the match and were divided into blue and yellow teams. Dr Lai Wai Ming led the blue team and Dr Lam Kwong Chin led the yellow team. With their utmost to score goals, the yellow team won by beating the blue team 2-0 in a penalty shootout after a 5-5 draw. Professor CS Lau, Dean of HKUMed, was invited to present the prizes to the winners. Dr She Wong Hoi of the yellow team, who scored four goals in the match, was awarded The Most Valuable Player. Blessed by the weather, the event provided a great occasion for exercise, reunion and socialising among the alumni. The participants' spirits were high and they enjoyed the game immensely.  [more]

The Alumni Chamber is located on 7/F, William M.W. Mong Block, Faculty of Medicine Building on Sassoon Road. It has a net area of about 120 m2, providing a convenient meeting place for private functions, such as class reunions. [ more ]

Membership

We offer Ordinary and Life
Membership. Subscription fee for new graduates would be waived for the first 3 years after graduation. For alumni reside overseas, only an entrance fee would apply with the annual subscription fee waived. [ more ]
