11th
Research Postgraduate Symposium
Thursday, December 7, 2006
Introduction
The Research Postgraduate Symposium (RPS) was first introduced
in 1996 to provide a platform for research postgraduate students
to present and share their exciting ideas and progress in
research. It aims to promote academic interaction and intellectual
advancement among students and teaching staff. Through active
exchange among presenters, Chairpersons, supervisors and
fellow students, it is hoped that students will benefit from
the dynamic and stimulating environment of biomedical research
in the Faculty.
This year’s RPS
(i.e. 11th RPS) will be held on December 7, 2006. The Symposium
will consist of 3 parts:
- Poster Presentations by MPhil/MRes(Med) students
- Parallel Oral Presentations by PhD students
- Plenary Sessions
The Poster and Oral Presentations
will be grouped into 4 areas broadly based on the strategic
research themes of the Faculty, namely, Cancer, Healthy
Aging, Infection & Immunology,
Public Health and Reproduction & Development. Prominent
researchers from overseas as well as Faculty members in
the relevant fields will be invited to be Adjudicators/Chairpersons
of the presentations.
One MPhil/MRes(Med) candidate who presented the best poster
in each theme will be awarded a Certificate of Merit, and
one PhD presenter with the best performance in each session
will be invited to present again at the Plenary Session.
Finally at the Plenary Session, a panel of adjudicators
will select one PhD presenter for the Best Presentation
Award.
