Oral Presentation
Assessment Guidelines
- Each PhD student will be given 8 minutes for presentation
and 2 minutes for discussion.
- Each Chairperson will independently give
a score out of 100 to each presenter using the following
scheme as a guide:

- Chairpersons will make reference to the following general
guidelines on the overall quality of the presentation in determining the
mark to be given:
80 and above

Excellent |
- good to
excellent in oral and slides presentation, with only
minor deficiencies in certain aspects |
60-69 |
Good |
- good overall, with some
weakness in certain aspects, especially presentation
skills |
50-59 |
Satisfactory |
- generally
up to standard; having been able to demonstrate basic
understanding and knowledge in the subject matter,
but with some unclear points |
Below 50 |
Barely satisfactory |
- ideas presented
are not clear; failure to demonstrate basic understanding
in the subject matter; poor presentation skills |
- The best PhD presenter in each session will be invited to present again
at the Plenary Session. The top PhD presenter will be awarded the Best Presentation
Award and the other PhD presenters will be awarded the Certificates of Merit.
Poster Presentation
Assessment Guidelines
- Each MPhil/MRes(Med) student will prepare a poster as well as a 2-minute
oral presentation to explain the scientific merits of his/her research project.
- Each Chairperson will independently give a score out of 100 to each presenter
on the marking sheet provided using the following scheme as a guide:

- generally
up to standard. But some of the ideas presented are

the subject matter; poor poster presentation or oral
presentation skills
