University Grants Committee

Foreword

On behalf of the Student Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 29th Research Postgraduate Symposium (RPS), an event organized annually by students at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong since 1996.

This year, we are thrilled to present the symposium with a theme that captures the cutting-edge nature of modern biological research—Integrative Multiomics Approaches: Unveiling the Complexity of Biological Systems. The intricate web of interactions within biological systems presents a captivating challenge that requires a multidimensional approach. The integration of diverse omics disciplines, such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and epigenomics, offers a comprehensive understanding of the complexity of life. Harnessing the advantages of Hong Kong's geographical location and our faculty's rich heritage, we firmly believe that the RPS at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine serves as the ideal setting to facilitate knowledge exchange and incubate synergistic collaborations between study teams, departments, and institutions.

By bringing together researchers, students, and professionals from diverse scientific backgrounds, we create a dynamic platform for fruitful discussions, the cross-pollination of ideas, and the exploration of novel research directions. We are honoured to have three world-leading scholars joining us to share their insights and expertise, providing invaluable perspectives on the latest advancements and future directions in the field. Their presence will undoubtedly enrich the symposium and inspire future generations of researchers. The symposium also offers a platform for students to showcase their amazing work through oral and poster presentations. We believe in the power of open discussions and interdisciplinary connections to spark innovation and unleash the fullest potential of each participant. We encourage everyone to actively engage in the scientific sessions, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations.

We would like to express our immense gratitude to Professor Judy Yam, Miss Kimmy Liu, Miss Rosalie Loo, and Mr Johnny Zhou for their invaluable help and guidance. Their expertise, dedication, and unwavering support have played a pivotal role in shaping this symposium into a remarkable experience for all participants.

We wish you a stimulating and rewarding experience at the 29th Research Postgraduate Symposium.
