About the Moderator

imageProfessor Chak-Sing Lau (劉澤星教授)

Professor Lau is currently Chair Professor and Chief of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology and Director of the Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education at HKU. He received his MBChB from the University of Dundee and MD with honours from HKU in 1985 and 1993 respectively. Previously, he served as Professor (2000–2007) and Assistant Dean (2001–2007) at the Medical Faculty of HKU, and Chair of Rheumatology at the University of Dundee (2007–2010). Professor Lau's research interests focus on the basic and clinical aspects of systemic lupus erythematosus and related disorders. He has published extensively with over 240 full articles and delivered over 360 presentations, including over 150 invited lectures. He is an editorial board member of Clinical Rheumatology, Inflammation and Inflammapharmacology, Lupus and Nature Reviews Rheumatology, as well as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases. Professor Lau was the President of the Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology between 2006 and 2008. In 2001, he founded the Hong Kong Arthritis & Rheumatism Foundation, which is the first local charity organisation for people with rheumatic disease.
