Poster Presentation Guidelines

I. Preparing your poster presentation before the Symposium

  1. Design your poster with an attractive outlook to (a) provide a brief overview of your work focusing on the objectives, hypothesis, academic progress and scientific merits of your project; and (b) initiate discussion and questions. Cover the key points of your work only as the display area available is limited.

  2. A display unit measuring 0.9m (W) X 2m (H) will be provided to you. Design your poster so that you can make full use of the display unit, but avoid its bottom part as it is difficult for viewers to read anything there. Adhesive will be available for you to fix your poster on the display unit.

  3. The title of your poster should appear at the top with font size about 72 (approximately 25mm high), followed by the name(s) of author(s) and affiliation(s). The smallest text on your poster should at least be of font size 24 (9mm high). Use large font size, bold font or color, etc. to highlight important points.

  4. The poster should not be confined to text. Use diagrams, figures, etc. wherever appropriate to make the poster more attractive.

  5. Make your poster as self-explanatory as possible.

  6. Please the back of your poster with your name and department at the left upper corner.

  7. All posters must be set up during 2:30 to 5:30 pm on December 1, 2015 (i.e. the day before the Symposium) on your allocated display unit.

II. Presenting your poster at the Symposium

  1. All posters are open for viewing from 9 am to 6 pm from December 2 to 3, 2015.  During your allocated poster session, you are expected to be available next to your poster to answer any questions raised by participants; you may also be requested by the adjudicators to present and explain the most important scientific merits of your research projects.  Selected presenters with the best poster presentation from each session will be awarded a Certificate of Merit and a cash prize.  Awardees will be informed via their registered mobile number shortly after the last poster session and will be invited to the Award Presentation Ceremony (5:10 pm on December 3, 2015) to be held immediately following the last Plenary lecture.

  2. All RPg students are expected to participate actively by staying through the event and raising questions to other presenters. Attendance at the three Plenary Lectures by overseas speakers in Lecture Theatre 2 is compulsory.

  3. Please retrieve your poster on December 4, 2015 between 9:30 am to 12:30 pm from the Exhibition Area / Seminar Rooms 1-3.  All poster boards will be dismantled by contractors at 2 pm on December 4, 2015; any remaining posters will be discarded by the contractors.
