Foreword
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are delighted to welcome you all to the 19th Research Postgraduate Symposium (RPS) of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong.
The theme of the Symposium is "Discovery to Application: Communicating Research Innovations" and we are honored to present to you three plenary lectures given by renowned overseas speakers in the areas of Epidemiology and Public Health; Virology and Cancer; and Healthy Aging, as well as a series of oral and poster presentations from our research postgraduates covering a wide variety of scientific disciplines.
Since its inception in 1996, RPS serves as a pivotal and interactive platform for the Faculty’s research postgraduates to share their innovative research findings and foster cutting-edge knowledge exchange with fellow students, researchers and distinguished overseas experts. This is the first year that this annual event received support from Research Grants Council of Hong Kong and Croucher Foundation, and is organized by research postgraduates with great passion and desires to enrich the symposium.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincerest gratitude to the six research centres of Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine including Centre for Cancer Research; Research Centre of Heart, Brain, Hormone and Healthy Aging; Research Centre of Infection and Immunology; Centre of Influenza Research; Public Health Research Centre; and Centre for Reproduction, Development and Growth, our advisors - Professor Danny Chan and Professor Jin Dong-Yan, members of the Organizing Committee, all adjudicators and moderators for their tremendous support and contribution in the Oral Presentation and Poster Presentation Sessions.
