Oral Assessment Guidelines
Oral Presentation Assessment Guidelines
  • Each student will be given 8 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for discussion.
  • Each Adjudicator will independently give a score out of 100 to each presenter on the marking sheet provided using the following scheme as a guide:
Oral presentation 30%
Scientific content 30%
Slides preparation 20%
Questions & Answers 10%
Timing 10%
  • Adjudicators are advised to make reference to the following general guidelines on the overall quality of the presentation in determining the mark to be given:
80 and above Outstanding - excellent in all aspects
70-79 Excellent - good to excellent in oral presentation and slides presentation, with only minor deficiencies in certain aspects
60-69 Good - good overall, with some weakness in certain aspects, especially presentation skills
50-59 Satisfactory - generally up to standard; having been able to demonstrate basic understanding and knowledge of the subject matter, but with some unclear points
Below 50 Barely satisfactory - ideas presented are not clear; failure to demonstrate basic understanding in the subject matter; poor presentation skills
  • The top three presenters will be selected for the Best Presentation, 1st and 2nd Runner-up Prize and will be awarded a trophy and a cash prize.
