Dr Nicholas Wong is a biotechnology entrepreneur and PhD graduate of HKUMed, where he earned his doctorate in Surgery in 2012. He previously served as a Council and Court Member at The University of Hong Kong from 2010 to 2012. Following his academic training, he co-founded a pioneering biotech startup with operations spanning China, Belgium, and Germany. The company completed 3 rounds of fund raising with total over USD$100M led by Chengwei Capital, Sequoia Capital, Prosperity 7 Ventures, AZ/CICC. Dr Wong’s work lies at the intersection of biomedical innovation and translational entrepreneurship, with a focus on developing novel technologies to address unmet clinical needs. He is also recognised as a “Mingzhu Elite Talent” by the Pudong New Area government in Shanghai.

Mr Vernon Tam is the Vice President of IPO Vetting, Listing Division at the HKEX. He has over 15 years of experience in healthcare and corporate finance. He began his career in the pharmaceutical industry at MSD and Eli Lilly, and later worked in investment banks including Deutsche Bank and Bank of China International, focusing on the biotechnology and healthcare sectors for more than 10 years.

Mr Tam graduated from The University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology in 2005 and a Master of Philosophy in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from HKUMed in 2007. He also holds an MBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and completed the international MBA programme with a major in healthcare finance at Duke University.

With a background in biomedical science and experience in healthcare finance, Mr Tam brings a blend of scientific understanding and market knowledge. His interdisciplinary experience enables him to connect the worlds of innovation and capital, supporting the growth of the healthcare sector through a balanced understanding of both its technical and financial dimensions.
