Background of Medical Humanities

The Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine launched in 2012 a medical humanities longitudinal program that will form part of a 6 year core undergraduate medical curriculum.

By incorporating the teaching and learning of medical humanities together with biomedical science, clinical skills and medical ethics, our curriculum will enable our graduates to foster humane and humanistic values in the professional care of their patients.

The medical humanities program was developed by a Task Force in Medical Humanities which was set up in 2009 with input from colleagues in Faculties of Medicine and the Arts, students, community partners and external overseas advisors. From 2009, we have run several pilot modules for our students.
