On behalf of the Organising Committee, I take great pleasure to invite you to attend the Frontiers in Biomedical Research, HKU 2013, organised by The University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine to be held on Friday and Saturday, December 13 & 14, 2013.

The Symposium this year, which will be extended to two days, will be a special one with a focus on Genetics and Genomics in order to honor the contributions of Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, our Vice-Chancellor, to this important area. Renowned overseas experts and outstanding local scientists have been invited to share with us their groundbreaking discoveries and achievements along the themes of "Genomics and Populations", "Hunting Disease Genes", "From Disease Gene Discovery to Mechanism" and "Genomic Medicine". This Faculty's flagship event will serve as a platform to pool together international experts in Genetics and Genomics for exchange of revolutionary ideas, sharing of knowledge and reunion among colleagues and friends around the globe in this field.

Building on its success in the past eleven years, I am sure the Symposium's exciting scientific programme and our distinguished speakers' insightful presentations will inspire the participants with new thoughts for the advancement of biomedical research and for the promotion of global health.
