Our counsellor will work with you to establish a collaborative, confidential relationship and help you cope and manage your concerns. Individual, couple and group counselling could be offered based on your need.
We will explain confidentiality of our services and assess your well-being in the first session. We will also explore and work collaboratively with you on any concerns which you may have. Where necessary, our counsellor may suggest referring you to medical or psychiatric services either in the public or private sector.
All our counselling services adhere to professional, legal, and ethical guidelines established by the University of Hong Kong and professional organisations. All personal information is protected by the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) in Hong Kong.
No information will be disclosed to anyone outside of the Student Wellness Service Team and/or the appointed psychiatrists without your written permission.
There are situations where we may need more than counselling and/or psychotherapy services. Student Wellness Team recognises the benefits of a multidisciplinary team approach in assisting students at times of distress.
At HKUMed, we are supported by renowned and dedicated doctors and professors who are experts and leaders in the field of Psychiatry. They offer psychiatric consultation services to our students. We are also supported by psychiatrists in the private sector and the University Health Service to provide our students with affordable psychiatric support services.
The Student Wellness Service Team will assist in referring these services to students when appropriate.
