Exploring Public Health and Global Health Careers – A Discussion with Professor Vivian Lin
The Professional Development Hub regularly organises enlightening Coffee and Career Talks to foster interactive discussions among students, staff, graduates and the general public. On 10 October 2024, one such event featured Professor Vivian Lin, a renowned expert in the field of public and global health.
Professor Lin engaged in a dynamic dialogue with a diverse audience, both in person and online. The discussion focused on Professor Lin's career development in public and global health. She shared invaluable insights from her extensive experience working in diverse regions globally, providing a unique perspective that inspired the attendees.
The event concluded with a Q&A session moderated by Dr Polly Wong, Senior Lecturer in the School of Public Health, sparking stimulating exchanges of ideas and insights. Participants left with much to think about after gaining substantial knowledge and inspiration.

Exploring Public Health and Global Health Careers – A Discussion with Dr Raymond Hutubessy
The Professional Development (PD) Hub is a platform dedicated to empowering students and staff to develop professionally in preparation for a meaningful career in public health. It routinely organises thought-provoking events, known as Coffee and Career Talks, which encourage engaging dialogues amongst students, faculty, alumni and the larger community.
On 4 November 2024, a sharing session featured Dr Raymond Hutubessy, Lead of the Value of Vaccines, Economics and Modelling (VoV) team in the World Health Organization's (WHO) Department of Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals (IVB). He engaged in a vibrant conversation about the economic aspects of vaccine implementation and its impact on global health outcomes.
Central to the discussion was Dr Hutubessy's personal career trajectory in public and global health. His compelling narrative offered the participants unique perspectives and insights, making the experience enriching for attendees, who gained considerable knowledge and inspiration from the event.
