To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Medical Research Conference (MRC) was held at the New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel on 30 November 2024. The theme of the conference, ‘Interdisciplinary Collaboration, Innovation and Technology Transfer’, highlighted the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration, fostering innovation, and translating medical research into practical applications. The event brought together over 280 attendees from HKU and other institutions, as well as healthcare professionals in Hong Kong, for a rewarding day of knowledge sharing across various disciplines.
The conference featured two named lectures —the AJS McFadzean Distinguished Lecture and the Rosie Young Lecture—and presentations delivered by 11 distinguished speakers, from the University Medical Center Groningen (Netherlands), Westlake University (China), Peking University Institute of Hematology (China), Angsana Health, the University of Hong Kong, and City University of Hong Kong. Researchers and students participated in abstract presentations to showcase their recent work. The Department also took the opportunity to recognise Faculty members for their achievements in the ‘Award for Excellence’ presentation ceremony.
