The Jockey Club Pathway to Healthy Ageing Project, supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, was launched in July 2021 by the HKU School of Nursing, in collaboration with 14 elderly centres. The project aims to optimise the functional abilities of older adults. The Jockey Club Pathway to Healthy Ageing Symposium was held at the HKU School of Nursing campus on 22 February, 2025, with approximately 200 attendees, including community and government representatives from the aged service sectors, health and social care practitioners, researchers and academics. During the symposium, Professor Doris Yu Sau-fung, Chair in Research at the HKU School of Nursing and the Project's principal investigator, presented the findings of a territory-wide functional assessment of older adults in Hong Kong. Additionally, Professor Yu, her research team and speakers from the partnering NGOs discussed the Project's impact on the well-being of older adults. It is encouraging to see the significant improvements in functional domains for many older adults involved in the project. To further this initiative, the HKU School of Nursing launched the ‘Volunteer Captain Program’ to train health coaches and social care workers to implement the critical care pathway for healthy ageing.
