Researcher Connect Workshop - Researching Interprofessional Education in Primary Healthcare Settings
On 7 April, the Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Collaboratory (CPHC) and the HKU Primary Health Care Academy held a Researcher Connect Workshop on the Public Policy Research Funding Scheme and the Strategic Public Policy Research Funding Scheme, managed by the Chief Executive's Policy Unit (CEPU). The event was hosted by Professor Sophia Chan, Policy Convenor of the Collaboratory, and presented by Mr Nicholas Kwan, Deputy Head of the CEPU and Secretary for the two funding schemes. About 200 colleagues from HKUMed and other faculties and units attended the workshop in person or via webinar. The participants gained invaluable information about the assessment process and criteria for these funding schemes, the design of research relevant to public policy needs, and the translation of findings into actionable policy recommendations.
On 22 April, another Researcher Connect Workshop titled ‘Researching Interprofessional Education in Primary Healthcare Settings’, was held by the CPHC. The event brought together experts to discuss the advancement of pedagogical research related to interprofessional education (IPE) in primary healthcare training. The speakers highlighted a range of innovative IPE initiatives, including research in DHCs, a community-based patient care project, an IPE model for the HKUMed Community Pharmacy and Health System Clinical Centre, insights from global IPE models, and the CUHK IPE curriculum. Approximately 30 clinical and research professoriates from HKUMed and the faculties of Dentistry, Education and Social Sciences attended. Group discussions focused on setting research priorities, enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration, translating research into practice, and securing funding. The workshop concluded with a strategic roadmap for enhancing IPE research and implementation in primary healthcare.
