School of Nursing

The School is pleased to continue its support of the Smoke-free Elite Teens Programme, organised by the Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health (COSH).  Approximately 70 students participated in the Programme Orientation held at our campus on 5 October. After an introduction to the Smoke-free Elite Teens Programme, Dr Joanna Ko, Lecturer in the HKU School of Nursing, provided an overview of our Bachelor of Nursing Programme to the participants, followed by a tour of our clinical skills laboratories.

The participants were impressed by the state-of-the-art simulation facilities in the School. Dr Ko and Professor Polly Li, Associate Programme Director of the Bachelor of Nursing (Full-time), demonstrated basic nursing skills and gave the participants an opportunity to practice and experience these skills firsthand. The participants showed great enthusiasm during the practice sessions.  In addition to the lab tour, the participants attended a presentation on smoke-free counselling skills and engaged in a group discussion. It was gratifying to witness another group of elite teens embarking on their journey to promote a smoke-free community.
