When a donor passes away
  1. The next-of-kin should communicate with the Department of Anatomy by telephoning 39176334 during office hours.
    Mondays to Fridays : 9:00am - 12:30pm , 2:00pm - 5:30pm. Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays : Closed.

  2. The next-of-kin must collect the documentation required as instructed by the hospital staff, such as the Medical Certificate of the Cause of Death, Cremation Certificate, Death certificate, HKID Card, etc., and then inform the Department of Anatomy upon completion of these documents.

  3. The next-of-kin signs a declaration issued by the hospital mortuary that he/she, having the sole right to dispose of the body of the deceased, agrees that the body be released to the Department of Anatomy, The University of Hong Kong.

  4. The next-of-kin must also inform the Department of Anatomy of his/her preference of the method of disposal of the body after use:
    a) Collect the ashes and arrange for burial or disposal by himself/herself.
    b) Scatter the ashes at the memorial garden dedicated to "Great Body Teachers" in the Junk Bay Chinese Permanent Cemetery.
    c) Arrange for ashes to be buried in Government's public cemetery.

  5. The Department of Anatomy will arrange with Hong Kong Government's Cemeteries and Crematoria (C&C) Office for the transfer of the body to its premises.
