47 46 MBBS Enrichment Year 2019/20 Cheung Nga Man Sem 1 < SH - Internshi p at M edArt, Hong Kong >; Sem 2 < IC - HKUWW Exchange Programme at University of Canterbury, New Zealand > During my service attachment, I visited Haven of Hope a palliative care centre, to sing Christmas songs for patients there. The objective of my NGO is to comfort and cure patients through music and medicine, and this music outreach demonstrated the power of music to our audiences. They were not very responsive but we could see they tried to interact with us. Our greatest hope was not to let feel abandoned in this joyful festival, but loved and cared by people around. I also attended the Hong Kong Humanity Award organized by Hong Kong Red Cross since my supervisor was one of the awardee. It was amazing listening to stories of all awardees. They were all determined in their service, regardless of all the challenges they have faced, just for bringing a better life for some other people living in the same community. There were also an array of opportunities for cultural exchange. Other than meeting friends from different countries, festivals of countries around the world were often organized. For example, the photo was taken in an Hindu festival called Holi Festival and people celebrated it by dancing and throwing colours to people around. They were also opportunities to meet new people and have great conversations. The favourite part of my exchange experience is tramping in New Zealand. Tramping is usually a long hike or even with overnight camping. The country has some of the most breathtaking views in the world and they are surely unforgettable. People here put great emphasis on environmental protection and conservation, so pollution is minimized even with numerous visitors, and this is something we should all learn.
