Courses 1 compulsory research ethic + 6 elective courses related to: laboratory animal handling and surgical technique, advance cardiac physiology, pharmacology and public health. Clinical Exposure • Different types of HBP surgeries and liver transplantation operations • Anesthesia induction procedure • Ward rounds • HBP/LT outpatient clinic My Gains: • Organizational skills • Critical thinking and problem- solving skills • Research knowledge and skills • Insight into the purpose, process, technical obstacle and limitation of research • Literature search • Basic statistical analysis • Communication skills • Life-long friendships with research team members My Gains: • Animal models used in surgical research • Public health theories • Broaden the scope of medicine that I’m exposed to this year, complementing my research. My Gains: • Basic surgical knowledge (particularly HBP/LT) • Interaction with patients, strengthen my sense of empathy and communication skills • Enthusiasm in surgery • Medical professionalism and provide the best patient-centered care COVID-19 pandemic • Clinical research has been suspended; and all courses conducted their classes online instead • Take care and re-connect with my family, friends and myself • Develop hobbies & routines to alleviate stress and anxiety • Explore HK with my friends and family I am incredibly grateful to study this degree under the supervision of Professor Chung-Mau Lo and Dr Tiffany Cho- Lam Wong. I would also like to extend my gratitude to all doctors, nurses and research staff in the HBP/LT division. “REWARDING & EYE-OPENING EXPERIENCE” MRes(Med) allows me to be at the forefront of medical research, supporting medical advancements and improving patients’ clinical outcomes. This year has greatly contributed to my personal growth and better prepares myself to be a medical doctor and clinical researcher in the future.
