Although the original plan was disrupted by COVID-19, valuable experiences and scarce leisure time were obtained. Semester 1 MedArt Research Program Wong Le Hua Wong Mei Wa SEMESTER 1 – RESEARCH ATTATCHMENT TO DR KENDRICK SHIH 1 | Clinical Attachment at Grantham Hospital Lo Fong Shiu Po Eye Centre • Learned how to perform a series of dry eye assessments by using OCULUS keratography optimized for imaging. • Observed multiple consultations and the dynamics of the Cornea Clinic. 2 | Working at Southern District Eye Clinic • Learnt the operations of the ophthalmic examination services as part of the Southern District Eye Examination Scheme • Offers 4 main components: 1. Detailed eye examination 2. General Health Check 3. Detailed non-invasive eye investigations 4. Follow up care / referral 3 | Refractive Surgery at Guy Hugh Chan Refractive Surgery Centre & Cataract Surgery at Grantham Hospital 4 | Literature Review – Quality of Life after Refractive Surgery The variety of literature available shows improvements in quality of life outcomes for a multitude of functional aspect following laser refractive surgery. More research is still required with validated questionnaires for assessing SMILE and LASIK in emotional components for QoL. Those who are unable to undergo laser refractive surgery, can consider pIOL. Learned how to attach snow chains onto a car in a snowstorm…at midnight… Big Bear Mountain Resort – 1 Day Ski Trip. Learned how to ski and how not to ski. Gliderport, San Diego – Paragliding. Might consider becoming a paragliding instructor for retirement. Socials at UCSD – Badminton Team, Dance Team. Made new friends who might come to HK! (Or maybe I’ll never see them again) Quarantine hobbies – 2.5 months in San Diego. Taught myself how to play the guitar, still not very good at it.
